Symbian Belle on the Nokia E6 [video]

We’ve got awesome new fellow E6 lovers!

A guy (youtube name – MwirigiK ) has managed to upgrade of flash a copy of Symbian Belle on his Noke E6. This is the first time we’ve seen Symbian Belle running on the E6.
The OS looks super snappy and seems to be tailor-made by Nokia and not just the Belle interface squished down to fit the E6’s screen. Everything and every icon and even the pull-down notifications look gorgeous on the device’s high resolution screen.

I’ve asked him to share it with us ( if possible ) and show some love to the exclusive E6 Community.
I guess it’s time to fall in love with the E6 again.
Now let’s keep our “qwerty loving” fingers crossed.

New version of Store client supports Nokia E6!

Just a quick update –

Today we have a new beta version of the Store QML client available with loads of goodies.  Version 3.20.044 includes:

• Support for Arabic, Hebrew and Kazakh languages
• Support for VGA resolution for devices such as Nokia E6
• Improved Virtual Keyboard for Text Entry, allows users to enter text directly in the entry form entry fields  “utilizing a split-screen view”
• Improved Search Experience: Spelling correction and Alternative results
• Improved reliability for operator billing while connecting via WLAN. Note that this only applies to WAP-Direct billing methods

Also, an additional feature will be activated on/after December 16.

• Registration Lite: Allows new consumers to download up to 10 free apps without the need to create a Nokia account

As always, please download the update, try it out, and let us know of any new issues or feedback.

KiK messenger for Symbian out now

KiK ( cross platform messenger ) for Symbian is out now and ready to take on whatsapp.
I was beta testing this app and I just received a mail – that it’s available for everyone now 😀
Btw, it’s written in QT!!! yay

it’s missing from the Nokia store on the E6-00, but you can download the app directly like this:

*It’s a trick to download any app from the Nokia store to your PC
Just add “/download” after the address of the application, eg – store.ovi.com/content/xxxxxx/download
If it still doesn’t get downloaded, then make sure you’ve signed in.
And if it still gives problems then set you phone as “nokia n8”

Mini Informal review #4 – Whatsapp IM (Now with Emoticon Support)

What is Whatsapp? You know what it is!
Well if you don’t, then you’re definitely missing out on something super great.
It’s a cross platform IM (Instant Messaging) service which kind of replicates what BBM does on a blackberry but it supports almost all platforms that anyone would care about –

Nokia Symbian S60 (3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 or newer)
Nokia S40 (6th edition or newer)
Windows Phone (OS 7.5 or newer)
iPhone (OS 3.1 or newer)
Android (OS 2.1 or newer)
BlackBerry (OS 4.5 or newer)

My Nokia Timeline

I was going through some of my old stuff an found something.
And thought that posting it would be a great idea 😀

If you’ve read my first post, then you would’ve noticed that my family has been a Nokia loyalist 😀

these are the phone’s that my Dad, Mum, Grand-mum, Grand-dad, Sister and I have owned –

NOkia 6110 + another model of the same or maybe older era which I dont remember ; 8310; 7650; 6600; 6260; 3230; 3500c; N91; N73; N93i; 3250; 7020; N95-8GB; 5700; 5800; e51; C5-5mp & E6.

The rest of the phones in the list have either been sold, lost or given to the workers at home.

Symbian Belle available (NOT!!!) for E6

Once again a nokia web-page provides incorrect and misleading information.
It says that belle is available for NOkia E6, X7 and 500, which is NOT true!
I threw my books and ran towards my PC to check navifirm for updates and checked FOTA on the phone too, and what did I find? No updates available??? Riiiight!
Careless Nokia, careless!

Toshl updates to 1.62.2

As i’ve said before, Toshl is one of the most beautiful apps for symbian. And now it has been updated to 1.62.2.
The update is available at ovi/nokia store.

The ‘upload to cloud’ and ‘export’ bugs have now been fixed.
Everything else is still the same, which is a good thing :-D. It’s still as beautiful as before.

Nokia E6 app compatibility list updated

The page “Apps tested to be flawlessly compatible with E6” has been updated.
More apps and games have been added.
Some games which are completely incompatible are also listed.

New Nokia Maps 3.8 (105) available on sw update

Hi,
If you open the ‘sw update’ app on your phone
You may see, depending on your region, an update to nokia maps i.e. 3.8 (105)
Even if you are on an old version like 3.6 or you’re already on 3.8 (beta), you will see the update, of course, subject to availability on your region.
